To follow this tour, start with the yellow stairway in
the center of your screen.
To the left, you will see the Fermentation Farm from
the last tour. The long stainless steel device with the candy-striped beer
hose attached to it is the
Plate and Frame Filter. The beer is pumped from
the Fermenter through the Filter where any yeast or other solid material is
filtered out of the beer. This makes our beer nice and clear and improves
the shelf-life of our brews. The beer is then pumped through the hose into
one of the huge
Bright Tanks that are located next to the
filter. These
tanks allow us to add carbonation to the beer on the rare occasions when the
yeast was lazy and did not produce enough on its own. Our largest Bright
Tank holds a little over 360 barrels (or 11,160 gallons) of beer. The Bright
Beer Tank is the last stop for the beer before it is bottled or kegged, so
let’s head to the packaging area next.
